AI♥IU and something slightly different

I have been following these guys for quite a while now. Mainly through their flickr feed where they regularly post screenshots that always dazzle with me with their quirky yet solid compositions. I could easily just put this video on a flat screen to run in the background for a party.

Logically, they have gotten into doing mapping projections as well. A melancholic mood in the music for something so bombastic a scale.

Speaking of strange juxtapositions, I attended a talk here in Berlin featuring the comic book artist Charles Burns. If you are not familiar with his work I highly recommend doing a google search. What took me by complete surprise was his interest in photography. He has even had a book published featuring this work.

What struck me the hardest was his approach of juxtaposing two different images together so that the mind will make up its own story, as it naturally tends to try and make sense of whatever it is presented with. I have heard of this approach being referenced in many discussions about VJ’ing and it was exciting to here someone addressed outside the context of VJing. If you are working with the projected image and are looking to ‘say’ something with your work I highly recommend his book as a source of inspiration.
